Comics? Yeah We Do That Too

Hello all you happy people,

Tomorrow is Wednesday, and that mean's it's Comic Book Day here at LTG. Pretty much from the time I step through the door to the time I leave, it's all about the comics. It's quite the busy day here, and I must say getting busier and busier. We are doing what we can to service those of you who enjoy a good read, and I appreciate your patronage.

If you've never read comics, but would like to know more, I do read a few titles myself, and would be happy to share with you the various stories I know about, and maybe make a few recommendations. There are some good long standing titles that are still popular to this day. Avengers and X-Men come to mind, but then I am a Marvel Fan. There are some titles that are coming out soon that just might make some headway with the comic book AND sci-fi fans out there. For instance, there's a new story arc for Star Wars being published by Dark Horse will be based on George Lucas' original screenplay. That one should turn a few heads.  Then there's the ones that fit into a twisted little mind that enjoys a bit o' the dark humor like a square peg into a round hole (That is to say quite nicely thank you very much)- Johnny the Homicidal Maniac anyone?.

Somewhere out there, if you like escapism, enjoy art, and want to read a good story arc, there is a comic for you. Come on in, try one out. Like it? Great, let's get you a subscription. Not so much? Let's try another. Not into superheroes? There are titles out there based on real life drama. Manga more your thing? We've got many different titles to choose from.

Righty-O my good gentle readers. If you've got any questions for me, lemme know. Stop on in, get in touch with me on FB, snail mail, phone call, smoke signals, whatever your favorite form of communication is, give it a try. Go to my website for the contact info (link's at the top of this post).

Until next time, same Bat Time, same Bat Channel

All this, and add to that how we do what we can to promote the whole "Community" thing by hosting events that bring the local fans together to share in their hobby, and you begin to see what it is about Leisure Time Games that separates us from just any old store.

Summer Games Day, Epilogue:

There it was folks.  Our Fourteenth Annual Summer Games Day has come, and gone. Over 70 gamers participated in over 30 different games, and a fun time was had by all.

I have a few thank you's to pass around. First of all, thanks to all the folks who participated. Coming in and having a good time is what these events are all about, and it's what I opened Leisure Time Games for. Also, a big thank you to all of you who ran games. We cannot have an event like this without you running the games people come to play.

I have one more thank you to extend, and that's to The Polycon Committee. When they come around, these events get big, and this one was no exception. They've been an integral part of Summer Games Day since it's inception, and I look forward to working with them through the upcoming years.

What's next as far as our Games Day Events are concerned? Well imaginary person who happened to ask the very question I'm ready to answer, that would be Halloween Horror Games Day! That's going to be Saturday, October 19, 2013. It (should) be in the same location- The old Rockstar Fitness Center, upstairs across from Sears. Believe it or not, we already have people signed up to run games, but you can get in on all the fun filled excitement too. Just come on in, send me an e-mail, or contact me at one of the myriad of different social sites we are on, and we'll hook you up.

Until next time folks

Comics, games and stuff, oh my!

Summer Games Day, that's the big thing right now here. Con books are printed up, getting copied as I type. The room is set to go, so that's left is for you to be here this Saturday.

Leisure Time Games, in conjunction with The Polycon Committee cordially invite you to come to The Mall at the Santa Maria Town Center, and have a grand old time playing games, from 10:00 AM to 10:00 PM. We've got over 30 games signed up, and if you check out our website, or like us on facebook (yes Google+ people, I'm working on updating you on a regular basis too)
, or find us on Twitter (leisuretimegame because apparently 15 letters are perfect, but 16 are just too many), you can not only be kept up to date on the play by play happenings at our little 'ol shop, but you'll find a list of many of the games that are happening throughout the Summer Games Day event.

The event is $5.00, but it's a bargain at any price- no seriously. Why are you looking at me like that?

This one's gonna be big, so don't miss out on all the fun,

And we're off,

Summer Games Day, one of our one day game events, is happening this weekend. We usually get around a dozen or so different Game Masters running a dozen or more games, but this one has already exceeded this dozen or so mark-by almost double. We've got 19 Game Masters running stuff signed up so far, some are running multiple games.

Yeah, I'd say this is a success, and we haven't even opened the doors yet.

If you're interested in attending or running a game, you can get more info here:

Summer Games Day

Yeah, that's one of those masked website things. My main domain name is leisuretimegames.com, but I redirect that to my Google site because, well, it's free and all.

If you happen to be around, stop on by and check it out. Until then,

 LEISURETIMEGAMES.COM

Let the filler and fluff begin!

We're about to start a Magic the Gathering Games Day Standard Tournament, and I thought I'd add a little something to the blog today before the mayhem commences.

I've decided I've been out of the actual gaming loop for long enough, and have started entering tournaments that I as a tournament organizer am allowed to enter. That's the thing about making a hobby a business- You stop doing whatever it is you use to do for fun because you do it for a living now. Let that be a lesson to all you kids out there.

Over the next few entries or so, I'm thinking of posting what's going on in my twisted little mind about what it is I am looking for as far as how the internets and I will interact, and what it is I plan on doing to add to the cacophony.

So there you go folks. my hope is you'll find these rambling useful, amusing, informative or whatever other adjective works for you. If anything it can give you an idea of what the local Santa Maria CA game scene is like, and if you find yourself in the area, stop on by.

Hello out there in internet land,

I spend a lot of time posting stuff on various social sites usually having to do with events at my store, Leisure Time Games in Santa Maria, CA. I never thought what I've written was of more interest than beyond my customers and notifying them of what's going on and when. Still, I've noticed Google spends a lot of time and effort tying to make internet services available to those interested, so I've been trying to take advantage of this seeming good nature of theirs. Therefore, I'm going to try to integrate as many of those services together to try and promote my Hobby-Gone-Business to the fullest extent available.

Over the next however long, I will be posting in my usual Facebook Account, Google+ Account (Both Leisure Time Games), Twitter (leisuretimegame) and now, Blogger. Let's see what transpires, shall we?

Hey, what could go wrong...
